Dame Anne Salmond - Patron

Dame Anne Salmond CBE FRSNZ, is a Distinguished Professor of Anthropology and Maori Studies at the University of Auckland and an eminent historian, writer and academic. She is a past Chair of the New Zealand Historic Places Trust. She was elected as a foreign associate in the National Academy of Sciences in 2009 and as a Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy in 2008 and in 2007 she became an inaugural Fellow of the New Zealand Academy of the Humanities. She was also elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand in 1990.

Anna Crighton [CHAIR], QSO, JP, PhD)

Anna Crighton represents the New Zealand Historic Places Trust and is the Chair of the Canterbury Earthquake Heritage Buildings Fund Trust.

Anna has a proven record as a staunch heritage advocate and is committed to the retention and conservation of New Zealand’s bi-cultural heritage. A Christchurch City Councillor for twelve years (1995 – 2007) during which time she chaired the Arts Culture and Heritage Committee, a Director and Chair of the Christchurch Arts Centre Board (1994-2004), her establishment of the Christchurch Heritage Trust in 1996 of which she is still a director, her initiation and subsequent promotion of the Hagley-Ferrymead Community Board Heritage Awards for 10 years, and currently Chair of the Christchurch Heritage Awards Charitable Trust, her role on the New Zealand Historic Places Trust Board since 2003, all attest to her long-standing commitment for upholding heritage values.
Anna has a strong personal commitment to community affairs and has been a member of the Theatre Royal Charitable Trust since 2001, is on the Canterbury Provincial Council Buildings Advisory Committee and the Canterbury District Health Board. Anna was awarded the Queen’s Service Order for Public Service in 2005 and in 2007 became one of only four individuals in its fifty-year history to receive a Christchurch Civic Trust Award.  She is currently studying for her Doctorate at the University of Otago.  Anna is Patron of the Canterbury Historic Houses Conservation Trust and the Christchurch Tapestry Workshop.

William Fulton, B.Arch, B.Bsc Dip LA and Director of Fulton Ross Team Architects

William has over 15 years of professional experience following a double qualification in Architecture and Landscape Architecture being a specialist in Heritage, Landscape Design and project delivery. In April 2007, William joined with Stewart Ross as a co-Director in Stewart Ross Team Architecture Ltd now known as Fulton Ross Team Architects. His is also a Director of Team Architects Limited, a consortium of 9 architectural practices across New Zealand. William has been the Project Architect on a range of projects working within a series of consultant teams with proven ability to work with both contractors and clients to ensure the best results for all stakeholders.

Heritage projects prior to the Christchurch earthquakes included the Christchurch Music Centre; Huntley Boutique Hotel; Riccarton Racecourse Tea House Restoration; Rhodes Memorial Home and Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Sumner, The Octagon Restaurant. While all unique these projects required careful treatment of heritage values as well as liaison with client, contractor and community groups involved.

Since the earthquakes William has been involved with manyHeritage projects including Te Koraha at Rangi Ruru School; Christchurch City Council Heritage buildings; various Church projects and is currently Heritage Architect for the New Regent Street rebuild.

Chris Hausmann

Chris is a Senior Construction Project Manager who has over 25 years in the business. He has been involved in restoration and conservation of numerous historic buildings from the UK to New Zealand.
Chris’s range of experience is varied, he has project managed numerous restoration and conservation projects as the owner's Project Manager and as the builder's Project Manager.
Chris has relocated to Christchurch from Wellington with his family to join in the Canterbury earthquake rebuild after completing the Conservation of Government House Wellington, historically the residence of the Governors General of New Zealand, where he represented the client as Senior Project Manager.
Other previous projects of note include;
•The restoration of the Embassy Theatre Wellington for the World Premiere of The Lord of the Rings.
•The restoration and alteration to the Napier Municipal Theatre.
•The conversion of the DIC department store Palmerston North into the Municipal Library.
Chris started what has become a personal interest in the UK where he worked on and managed teams in the restoration of listed buildings in London and the surrounding area. He has come to Canterbury hoping to make a contribution and apply the years of experience he has gained from around New Zealand and in the UK.

Malcolm Lyall

Malcolm Lyall is representing the Selwyn District Council and is in his third term as a councilor on the Selwyn District Council.

Malcolm is a long time resident of the Selwyn District and has been actively involved in community and environmental organizations for many years. He is the owner operator of an electrical contracting business, which he has established. Malcolm holds the portfolios of tourism, economic development, heritage and the arts; he is a hearings commissioner and a member of the greater Christchurch urban development strategy implementation committee. He has a strong interest in environmental issues and the education and promotion of increasing environmental biodiversity and sustainability.

Judith Hoult, BA (Hons)

Judith Hoult is representing the Waimakariri District Council and is a member of the Rangiora Community Board.

Her lifelong interest in the built environment was enhanced by the architectural papers studied as part of her Art History BA (Hons) degree. She has been a member of the New Zealand Historic Places Trust for 25 years. Judith pursued a career, initially, as a secondary teacher, and later as the art educator /schools at the Robert MacDougall/Christchurch Art Gallery. She was a member of the Museums Education Association of New Zealand and the Aotearoa-New Zealand Association of Art Educators.

Her Rangiora community involvement included her membership of the Waimakariri District Council committee responsible for establishing the district heritage list as well as a member of the Rangiora Borough School Committee, and member of two committees engaged in fundraising for community facilities; a kindergarten and the recently completed Dudley Park Aquatic Centre.

Brad McDonald, BA, LLB

Brad McDonald is a Partner at Godfreys Law, a Christchurch law firm which traces its roots back 140 years.

Brad has been practising law since 2000 and has varied experience across a broad range of legal areas including commercial law, employment law and property law.

Brad is currently on the Executive Committee of the Taylors Mistake Bachholders Association and a member of the New Zealand Law Society Employment Law Committee (Canterbury/Westland). Brad advises several Charitable organisations including the Korowai Youth and Wellbeing Trust, the Woolston Development Project and Christchurch Search and Rescue.

Brad is passionate about Christchurch heritage and the restoration and protection of buildings of significance.
